In reply to rekotomo. If you're already in Sabang, you don't need to go through a tour, just show up at the pier and they'll group you with other people. For the permit, I got mine in Puerto Princesa, but I think you can get it in Sabang as well. When you book your hotel in Sabang, send them a message to ask about it.

Thank you very much for your blog. Very informative and can help me to figure out if I want to go to the Underground River.

I’m thinking to go to the Philippine on the 25th of December 2023, and my plan is like this :
From Manila, once arrive in Puerto Princesa airport, go directly to a budget accomodation near Sabang beach and spend the night there. Ask the hostel I stay to arrange a tour (which already included the permit document) to Underground River for next morning as early as possible (to avoid too much crowd).

Maybe you know if it is possible or not to do like that ?
Because from googling the internet, if using a tour operator, the trip is always start from Puerto Princesa city then approx 2 hours drive from Puerto Princesa to Sabang wharf.

Thanks, just to correct that the tickets are now sold in Puerto Princesa in Mendoza Park and not the Coliseum
