Malta
Recommended by Sabrina of Shade of Summr
Malta is one of the best European summer party destinations. The island of Malta is located in the Mediterranean Sea, South of Italy. The island is still somewhat of a hidden gem, but it is growing more popular every year.
One of the reasons why Malta is so awesome in summer is the nightlife. Drinks are pretty cheap on the island, and it is filled with cool bars and clubs.
There are lots of festivals (co-called festas) throughout the year, and especially in summer. But one place that is always crawling with party-goers is St. Julian. The Paceville area is full of cool clubs and bars. Stroll around there and you’ll find many great spots. Sky Club Malta is a great bet for sure.
But my true favorite way to party in Malta is boat parties. You can either go on a booze cruise to places like the Blue Lagoon or just party on a pirate ship. Either way, it is a lot of fun and usually super cheap.
If you want to experience the most of the nightlife, stay in St. Julians for sure. A lot of places there have cool rooftop bars with pools – perfect for a little pre-partying. Make sure to stay at least 10 days in Malta for the best experience.
Reykjavik, Iceland
Recommended by Shweta of Zest In A Tote
Most folks visit Iceland in summer for its natural landscape. And while the scenery is truly stunning, you must allow a couple of days for Reykjavik sightseeing. This northernmost capital in the world is a cool, joyous city with vibrant nightlife, nice cafes, and quirky street art.
The dining scene and nightlife come alive in the summer months. We visited Reykjavik in June and experienced the phenomenon of midnight sun, it was as bright as day when we stumbled out of the last club at 2 am and were ready to hit the hotel. Youngsters continue till 5 am, I am told!
Reykjavik’s bar scene is trendy, with many bars offering live music and DJs playing all kinds of music. We experienced this on a Friday night at Laugavegur Street. The high-end boutique stores shut down before 9 pm, but the street was buzzing with the party atmosphere.
None of the bars charged us an entrance fee which meant that we could try as many as 5 different venues, some with live bands. My favorite was a local band playing at a unique book cafe and bar, Hus mals og Menningar.
Lisbon, Portugal
Recommended by Daniela of Olá Daniela
Every June the streets of Lisbon’s most charming older neighborhoods become overrun with pop-up bars and barbeques. The month-long party brings Lisboetas out dancing and drinking on the colorful, decorated streets, with streamers hung along every cobbled laneway.
This month is known as Santos Populares – or by its nickname, the Lisbon Sardine Festival. The fun peaks on June 12, the longest night of the year, with an all-night street party to celebrate Santo António.
Beyond the June street parties, Lisbon is a hotspot for summer music festivals with Nos Alive, Rock in Rio, Super Bock Super Rock, and MEO Kalorama bringing big international names to the Portuguese capital. They usually start in the late afternoon, giving you time to explore the city then dance all night to Dua Lipa, LCD Soundsystem, Pearl Jam, Doja Cat and so much more.
If that’s not enough, Lisbon’s party streets reach fever-pitch in the summer months. Squeeze your way down the infamous Pink Street or into Bairro Alto where dozens of bars serve beers and cocktails straight to the street. For a nicer drink try Pensão Amor. When those wind down around 2 am or 3 am, the clubs heat up and there’s no hotter spot than Lux.
Varna, Bulgaria
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly European city and a great summer party destination, look no further than Varna. Located on Bulgaria‘s Black Sea coast, this resort town is known for its lively atmosphere and affordable prices.
Spend the day at one of the many beach clubs like the trendy Cuba Beach Bar, Cubo, or Menthol, enjoying good music, nice cocktails, and of course, the beach. At night, start with a drink at Kultura Speakeasy Bar, then dance the night away at Horizont, one of the oldest nightclubs in town.
Split, Croatia
Recommended by Sam of Sam Sees World
Split – a lively coastal city in Croatia – is one of the best party destinations in Europe. All around the city, you will find numerous beach clubs, bars, and nightclubs to choose from with people from all around the world enjoying the amazing vibes.
One of the highlights of Split’s party culture is the famous Bacvice Beach, where you can find a ton of beach clubs and lively bars to relax, dance, and swim!
When the sun sets you can enjoy the bars and pubs in the old town or even visit a nightclub. Some of my favorite places for partying at night are Chiba Bar, Central the Club, and Charlies Bar.
During the summer months, Split hosts various music festivals and events, including the Ultra Europe music festival, which welcomes top DJs from around the globe.
For an unforgettable party experience, I recommend staying at a party hostel like Hostel Split Backpackers, where you can meet like-minded travelers and join organized pub crawls and boat parties.
With its lively atmosphere, stunning coastal setting, and diverse party options, Split is the ultimate destination for partygoers in Europe.
Paros, Greece
Recommended by Tamara of My Elated Odyssey
If you’re searching for one of the best European summer party destinations, head to Paros, Greece! This Cycladic island is famous for its scenic beaches, beautiful villages, and exciting nightlife.
Paros has quickly built a reputation as a mini Mykonos without the expensive price tag. When you experience the nightlife, it’s no surprise why! The island has numerous bars, beach clubs, and clubs that will have you dancing all night.
The premier nightlife area in Paros is Naoussa, the island’s second-largest town. What is a charming village during the day turns into an energetic scene of lively venues.
Some bars and clubs you can’t miss in Naoussa are Linardo, Kosmos Cocktail Bar, and Trickster. Throughout the season, popular DJs perform at these establishments, and the fun continues until the sun rises.
Parikia, the capital of Paros, is another nightlife hub. Like Naoussa, you have numerous options, including The Dubliner, Pirate Bar, and Sativa Music Bar. Whether you want to sing to ABBA, mingle with international tourists, or dance to your favorite music, you will have a great time!
If you’re interested in attending a party-centric beach club in Paros, check out Cabana Beach Bar, where the party never ends!
Prague, Czech Republic
Recommended by Amabel of Classy Travel Guides
You’re never far away from a party in Prague, whether you’re looking for chic rooftop bars, an underground rave, or a sprawling beer garden overlooking the city. In summer, the Medieval center comes alive with jazz bars, cabarets, and lively historic pubs.
Try U Fleků, an enormous iconic brewery famed for its ultra-strong craft beer since 1499. On warm summer days, the beer garden at Hospudka na Hradbach in Vysehrad is the place to be, with low-cost pints and a view of Prague’s terracotta-tiled rooftops.
After dark, seek out AnonymouS for the nostalgic intrigue of a speakeasy-style bar. Here, the menu is written in invisible ink and the cocktails come served in everything from a cookie monster cup (complete with a real cookie) to a sling for the famous Singapore tipple.
For late-night dancing, head to Duplex on Wenceles Square, a famous multi-floor megaclub, or Chapeau Rouge, where international DJs are hosted in a spectacular Art Noveau building in the city center.
Ayia Napa, Cyprus
Recommended by Niki & Timo of Travelnania
Ayia Napa in Cyprus is a top pick for a European summer party destination. What makes it special is the combination of incredibly beautiful beaches offering a laid-back vibe during the day and a lively party scene at night. The nightlife here is legendary, with countless bars, clubs, and beach parties to choose from.
For a fun night out, we highly recommend heading to Senior Frog’s Party Bar, where the atmosphere is always vibrant with delicious cocktails. Another hotspot not to be missed is Castle Club, known for its epic parties and DJs spinning the latest beats.
Start your evening under the sun at Nissi Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Ayia Napa, featuring stunning crystal-clear water. It’s the ultimate spot for afternoon fun with DJs, foam parties, and great music.
Ayia Napa is perfect for those seeking a mix of fun and relaxation, offering an unforgettable summer experience.
Mykonos, Greece
Recommended by Soline of On the Road Diary
Mykonos Island in Greece is world famous for two things: its Cycladic architecture and its incredible nightlife! It has been a favorite destination for summer parties in Europe for quite a while now.
We understand why: Mykonos has warm temperatures half the year, incredible beaches with clear water, and many bars and clubs. It is especially famous among the LGBTQ+ community.
We must say, partying on a beach hits different than in an underground nightclub. Mykonos has both. You must try it at least once if you are staying at least 3 days in Mykonos.
To start the night, we recommend heading to the best bar in town: 180 Sunset Bar. The sunset views are just insane, and so are the cocktails.
Then, if you like beach parties, head to the Super Paradise beach club. They have DJs all night long, but also during the day sometimes. Drinks start at 6€ for a beer and 15€ for a cocktail. The atmosphere is very enjoyable, and the place is decorated with taste.
Brussels, Belgium
Recommended by Vanessa of Traveling Cats
Belgium might not be the first place you think of for top European party spots. However, this is the cradle of Tomorrowland, the world-famous techno music festival held annually in July.
Belgians sure love to party. There’s always something exciting happening wherever you roam, especially in Brussels, where summer brings a flurry of party options.
From Couleur Café in June to Brussels Summer Festival in August, there’s no shortage of music festivals.
Missed those? No worries. Madame Moustache, Celtica, and Café Central are prime spots for dancing in the city center, while Delirium and Floris Bar serve up great drinks in a festive atmosphere. Mirano and Fuse top the list for dancing venues.
After a wild night, you can kickstart your morning at Mokafé in the Galerie du Roi with coffee and a croissant (and a resident cat). It’s open from 7:30 am.
Cascais, Portugal
Recommended by Sara of Big Adventures with Little Feet
If you asked me what the best summer party destination in Europe is, that you’ve probably not thought of, then Cascais in Portugal jumps into my mind. This coastal town has a handful of cool beaches, some great bars and restaurants plus an amazing marina that hosts high-profile sailing events such as the America’s Cup.
This is a town that knows how to provide relaxed and chilled-out vibes during the day, and can switch on the party energy at night. Trust me, I’ve been there for a hen do, and wow, does the town know how to party.
One of the best places to kick off your evening is the Blue Bar in Hotel Baia which has a great panoramic of the beaches and ocean. It starts to get lively at sunset.
You can then head along to Largo de Camões which is the main square and hub of the town’s bars. There you’ll find live music playing most of the weekend. What’s great is that Cascais is only a 35-minute drive from Lisbon, so you can combine both into one trip – make sure to add it to your Portugal itinerary.
Ibiza, Spain
Recommended by Samantha of Coco Travels
Ibiza is one of the best summer party destinations in Europe thanks to its huge super clubs, famous DJs, and popular day parties. On this Balearic Island, you can choose from chilled-out sunset vibes, popping champagne with the rich and famous, or dancing til dawn to some of the catchiest house music.
In recent years, the island has become known for its array of fantastic beach clubs that offer pool parties and drink packages. O Beach is one of the most well-known with its orange cups and circular day beds or head to Blue Marlin for sea swims and frozen cocktails.
In the evening, head to Café Mambo on the San Antonio’s Sunset Strip to hear sets from some of the best DJs in the world including Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, and Armin van Buuren.
If you’re looking for an Instagrammable hotel, there’s no shortage of them on the island and most hotels have their own events too. NYX Ibiza, Wi Ki Woo and Cubanito are all hotels which are super photogenic.
Saint Tropez, France
Recommended by Eleanor of Elevate Your Escapes
Saint Tropez, France is known for the glitz, glamor, and nightlife. It attracts celebrities and party-goers from all around the world. I loved visiting the seaside area of Saint Tropez, which has some small-town charm and incredible beaches.
There are two main highlights of Saint Tropez – the ritzy beach clubs and the high-end nightclubs. Club 55 on Pampelonne Beach is the daytime spot to go to. You can have lunch next to the beach and then party all day.
Les Caves du Roy, located in the Byblos Hotel, is a famous nightclub known for its luxurious vibes, top-notch DJs, and celeb sightings. Le Quai is another frequented spot that’s a bit more relaxed. VIP Room is another famous venue, notable with lavish decor. And finally, L’Opéra, situated in the port, cannot be missed. It combines dinner and dancing.
You can stay immediately in Saint Tropez or in the less expensive Port Grimaud area. Saint Tropez is a bit tough to get to, and many travelers will combine it with a trip to Cannes or Nice.
Marbella, Spain
Recommended by Cristina of My Little World of Travelling
Marbella is a fantastic option if you are looking for a European summer party destination.
This town, under an hour’s drive from Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP), is a popular destination for its luxury vibes and parties.
The best time to go is from early May to late September when most beach clubs open for the season.
You have probably heard of Nikki Beach, well, there is also one in Marbella, and it is a favorite, but there are many other fantastic beach clubs. Whether you want to go with a group of friends, solo, or with your partner, there is one for you.
If you stay in the old town of Marbella, I recommend going to Amare Beach Club. The atmosphere is excellent! They have delicious food, drinks, and live music. You could also stay here. It is an adult-only hotel.
The Puerto Deportivo also has many nightclubs that have a lively atmosphere during the summer months.
However, if you want a more glamorous ambiance, La Cabane won’t disappoint you.
During your time in Marbella, I also recommend checking out the event calendar, as there are many events, concerts and activities. For example, Marbella’s fair takes place in early June, and the Starlite Festival concerts are held between July and August.
Barcelona, Spain
Recommended by Lavina D’Souza of Continent Hop
Barcelona, with its sunny weather and sea breeze, is one of the best European summer party destinations. Summer in Barcelona is from mid-June to August. The temperature stays around 25℃, giving you a perfect chance to take a dip in the sea.
The summer festivities in Barcelona kick off with the Revetlla de Sant Joan. Taking place on 23rd June, these St. John’s Eve celebrations are a vibrant mix of music, fireworks, bonfires, cava, and traditional sweets. It’s a time to celebrate the arrival of summer in a truly festive spirit.
Renowned as one of Europe’s top summer party cities, Barcelona offers a diverse range of venues. From lively pubs and bars to pulsating clubs and night tours, Barcelona’s nightlife is unmatched. The neighborhoods of Las Ramblas, The Gothic Quarter, and El Raval are full of such edgy places. Don’t forget the exhilarating boat parties where all the fun happens!
Check the events at Razzmatazz in Poblenou as this discotheque and concert hall brings you internationally renowned DJs. Opium Barcelona is another iconic venue. This luxury nightclub is located right near Barcelona Beach, making night parties all the more exciting. Other venues like Shoko, Carpe Diem, Otto Zutz, and Pacha Barcelona are everything you hope for.
Wondering what to do in Barcelona before pub hopping starts? Check this Barcelona itinerary to make the best of your summer trip.
Budva, Montenegro
Recommended by Anya of Road is Calling
I always knew that Budva, famous for its nice beaches, was huge in terms of summer partying and nightlife. However, just recently when settling in the area, I discovered just how incredible the energy and atmosphere of this place is, with its endless beach parties, lively bars, musical summer festivals, and disco bars that make it a top destination for partygoers from around the whole Balkan region.
The ‘noisiest’ area with the largest and most famous bars and nightclubs is the promenade, but the Old Town district is also full of bars and restaurants that come alive at night with live music, DJ sets, and a variety of drinks to choose from.
Some of the best ones are Vihor Blues Bar with good music and craft beer, Mañana Budva with the best cocktails, and ‘El Mundo’ an open bar in Budva Old City with lots of action and a wide variety of drinks.
However, if you are after the coolest nightclub, then don’t miss the open-air Hill Top nightclub located at the foot of a mountain. In summer, it is the center of famous European DJs and local stars. Exciting parties take place here almost every night and there’s a pool for foam parties. Unlike other outdoor discos that turn off the music at 1:00 AM, Top Hill stays open until late at night.
You can easily find it thanks to the shining beams of huge spotlights that illuminate the sky every evening. Inside the club, there is an A La Carte restaurant, a Vodka bar, a Wine bar, a Cohiba bar, a Jacuzzi bar, a Hookah bar, VIP areas for 600 people, and a huge dance floor.
